When I changed D's bed from a white crib to a red bed, we somewhat changed the colour scheme and I needed more red. Also the space above the crib was now a big empty wall that needed to be filled.

Knowing that I would not be getting an expensive piece art for that space and knowing that M. liked her name above her bed I opted for a canvas take on his name. I used different wall paints, sharpie pens, some buttons, craft paper and a lot of glue to create a simple and colourful canvas that included the colour red.
You'll note that it's hung higher than it should be given the space, but I wanted to keep it just a bit higher to lessen then chance of having it knocked or pulled down by busy toddler hands.

This was a homespun, inexpensive way to get more colour in his room and I am quite happy with the results.
Love the DIY name canvas. Really adds colour to the room. BTW I am really enjoying your blog.
